Hear Ye! Hear Ye!  Clues Are Issued to Guess Visiting Dignitary

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Okay so maybe it wasn’t easy to guess the visiting lady dignitary.  Therefore being as benevolent ath I am I shall issue a new picture and 4 movie clues that the fair lady hath been a part of.

Clues:

    1. As a young lady I was the girl friend in the original Karate Kid.
    2. As all girls do I was also the babysitter in Adventures in Babysitting,
    3. As I matured I too fell prey to the devil’s nectars and ultimately wound up as Tom Cruise’s pregnant girl friend then wife in Cocktail,
    4. As yet a more mature woman I feel prey to the vices of “Sin City” as Nicholas Cage’s girlfriend/prostitute in Leaving Las Vegas

I trust that all these clues shall help thee in a solution to the mystery Dasmsel.  As an added aid here is yet another picture for you to see.  In this one you shall also see the lady’s brother.

GOOD LUCK ALL!!

Just Another Day in Paradise!

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

The sun rises and the cool air briskly whistles across the yard and then …
Ah yes the lovely wind! Nature’s surefire way to drive you bananas!! SO needless to say when we got hit with the nice winds accompanying the “Arctic Blast”, I should have guessed that the fun was about to begin! Chasing garden cart/wheelbarrow, plastic chairs and the miscellaneous garbage that blew in from who knows where was just the beginning. Ah yes the pièce de résistance, the support poles for the patio roof that happened to fall down because the lovely wind lifted the roofing/cover up and down all night resulting in 2 of the secondary support poles working themselves loose only to come crashing down startling the begieses out of us. So being the diligent sole that I am, I go running outside in my “PJs” to remedy the situation. Alas there were no servants up in this kingdom at those wee hours of the A of M. Yup that is correct, his majesty was outside in all his royal glory at 3:00 in the morning trying to place the poles back up as they belong! Oh yes did I mention the fact that it was 18 degrees and the winds were at 25 to 30 mph ever so nicely lowering the temperature to about -10 to 15 below zero!! Yeah for the birth of an “Icicle Pop!!! Well finishing this as quickly as possible, remembering how much my shoulder was killing me and elbow was as useless as ever, what should have taken 5 maybe 10 minutes took all of 15 to twenty for lack of strength and excessive pain, I proceed to retire yet again for the evening only to be serenaded again by the lovely crash ping ping ping of the poles returning to their prone positions. Perhaps they too were attempting to remove themselves from the effects of the howling Arctic winds? Alas we will never know!!! Yup “Just Another Day in Paradise!! raspberry

Hi Dad I Love You, Now Give Me Some Money!

Ah Kids Ya Gotta Love ‘Em!!

Yep the joy of your life, the major cause of Gray Hair and a great source of love and affection! Or so they tell you!!! Don’t get me wrong I love my girls immensely and would do or give them anything in my power. However, no one said that they come with strings attached!! wink They may be hugging you and showing affection, but in reality they are just buttering you up to fleece you out of your last hard earned pennies!! OK I may sound bitter here, and I probably have two of the greatest kids in the world, they aren’t into drugs, don’t smoke and aren’t slutty or anything like that, they just need to learn the value of a dollar and that the fountain of parent’s can run dry!! OK in my day you take the SAT once and be happy with anything over 1000. Today if you don’t think that your score is high enough you just take it again. Take college courses take the AP and have to pay for the scores on the APs to count in college, but your college may not take the grades. Then if you want the course to count as a college credits you have to register in the local college and pay the credit costs. Argh!! Money after money after money!!! So you fork over the bucks and think that is that. Nope now they have their license and want a car. “Don’t worry Dad I’ll pay you back and I’ll pay for the increase in insurance”. grin So you get suckered in and there goes more bucks to the “kiddie”. Then one thing leads to another and she is off at school and her friends, who have two working parents, don’t have to work or pay for anything so they think that they shouldn’t have to either. Then the payments stop arriving, questions lead to frustration and oh I only work 14 hours every two weeks so I can’t pay you anything. But you find out off they go o a vacation in Canada – hotel, food, gas and fun all requiring money that she says, “I don’t have any” of. SO you do with out again and again. Then she enrolls to go off to study in England, again needing lots of $$$$ to survive there. Hmm who is getting the short end of the stick? Well who knows. I guess they say they are only young once and it is their college years, they’ll have to work hard when they graduate. Yea right. They’ll move back home and there goes the neighborhood and bucks right out the window!!

All I can say is Ya Gotta Love Em!!! Yup, I wouldn’t trade them for anything!!! smile

Happy Hauntings!!

Ah yes the night after the Scary Festival of Tricks and Treats!! vampire

All the fun of Halloween has come and gone. The kiddies in their costumes, the bowls full of candy, pumpkins full of seeds just waiting to be gutted and decorations festooned on neighbors’ lawns. Yes that was the scene up until yesterday afternoon around 10 minutes to 4 pm. The the screaming memes, princesses, bums, witches, devils monkeys and even super heroes lined the streets All in search of treats and attempting to avoid the tricks of the day! In an effort to keep with the occasion we too gutted and dressed our pumpkin in a scary motif, and even had costumes for the canines, but alas forgot to adorn them in their garbs!! At least we did remember to photograph them when we got them, so here they are all dressed in their Halloween Best!!

Ha psyche! I bet you thought that they would be all dressed up in some funky looking costumes that only the rich and wealthy that have the bucks to throw away would make their canine buddies wear!!

As the day transformed to night and the darkness settled in it was apparent that the elder tricksters were out and about. This was evidenced by the increase in costumes covered in Barbasol and other brands of shaving creams!! Soon the streets were slick with foam from the intermittent scuffles with the lather. Further glances up the road one could see streams of silly string and waves of good old TP swaying in the branches of the neighborhood trees!! Fortunate for us I guess my scary guardian at the front door protected our abode from those mischievous hooligans as we did not suffer the TPing, egging or shaving cream attacks!!

And so marks the end to another Halloween, and perhaps our last at this our humble NY dwelling! confused

Luck Be-eth A Lady Tonight?

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

Ah the temptress doth lure ye to entwine thyself in her web! Alas his highness had the urge to busy himself in the games of chance only to reveal the fact that his luck doth not change. Sire entered into a tournament of the cards online this evening. The game – No Limit Texas Hold Em – the stakes – qualification to play in the finals for a seat on Celebrity poker. Unlike his first attempt where he lost everything on his first hand, his majesty lasted 38 minutes and took part in the demise of two foes! Unfortunately as fast as the seats became unoccupied, they were filled with new opponents! A fun distraction twas this joust, the cost extremely reasonable, $0.00, chips were gratis! I guess even a monarch can use practice in some things! For any that may be interested, go to www.bravotv.com and join in at celebrity poker. Free chips, no cost and plenty of practice; and if you feel lucky they run tournaments that have no buy-ins to play!! Perhaps We’ll see you there!
Tonight’s Royal Edict: If it tis the games of chance that thou dost desire, remember the limits that thy treasury doth hold! For if thou dost lose thy fortune, thy Queen’s Edict shall be far worse then any thy can imagine!!

Hear Ye Hear Ye The Castle Gets Reviewed

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

The local housing squire of the castles protection firm shall be paying us a visit this morrow. We are in for a re-assessment of the damages caused by Mother Nature’s 13 days of Fury October past. She in all of her glory has deemed the necessity to drench our castle to flooding proportions. As such we had the local masonry re-roof, re-wall, new windows and new portcullis our humble castle. Keeping with the heart, and feng shui, we went with the red, white and blue. Of course the red was the portcullis, the white was the trim and the blue the main structure and roof. Once these were completed, that left us with the flooded hallways and kitchen, leaking bedroom and bathroom. Just when we thought nothing else could moisten us further, we found that the pantry, bedroom floor and kitchen/hallway walls were all damaged and molding. This forced us to pull up the carpeting and empty the pantry’s lower quadrant of rusting, rotting, molded and damaged items. Oh the fun!! The lovely winds accompanying this storm also proved too much for our battlements and the fences failed and ultimately fell under the wakes of battle!!
So to get to the point….
In the morrow yon squire shall be here early to look at all damages we have found since the last visit of the southern knight.

My edict is that retribution be paid for the extra items, but will the firm be friend or fiend?!
